ABOUT US

ORIGIN STORY
Welcome to Cultivation Liberation Family Counseling and Psychotherapy Inc. A sanctuary for mental health care founded by Joy Jaco (she/they). At Cultivating Liberation Counseling, we believe in providing competent and compassionate support with a flare of comic relief, because we understand that healing often requires a balance of seriousness and lightness.
Joy approaches psychological work from a non-dualistic lens, recognizing that every individual possesses inherent wisdom and the capacity for growth and transformation. They believe that each of us has the potential to access our internal and external resources, but we may need support and reminders along the way.
Joy was deeply inspired by her clinical supervisors throughout their clinical training and decided to embark upon the journey of supervising other clinicians and expanded their private practice into a group practice in 2025. They are passionate about making sure our communities have competent therapists and accessibility to care. They became a medi-CAL provider to accept no cost medi-cal insurance and all therapist within our organization can accept medi-cal as well!
Walking side by side with clients on their journey of growth, reflection, and healing is a privilege and an honor for us.
At Cultivation Liberation we provide in-depth mental health assessments and diagnostics to help clients better understand their challenges and to support folx in receiving the right supports and accommodations at school, work and so forth. With a deep commitment to accessiblity, Cultivation Liberation provides congruent coping strategies and treatment options that align with each individual’s unique needs and we advocate for our clients to receive those in whatever ways we can as therapists.
Specializing in trauma-informed care, we are experienced in working with individuals recovering from acute and chronic trauma, addiction/alcoholism, and attachment issues. Our approaches are rooted in understanding the impact of trauma on the mind, body, and spirit, and we strive to create a safe and validating space for clients to explore their experiences and find healing.
As a gender-affirming therapists, we are dedicated to supporting individuals and families in their journey towards self-discovery and self-acceptance. We understand the unique challenges and experiences faced by transgender individuals and are committed to providing a safe and affirming environment for our clients.
